growing mushrooms with banana and strawberries?

Currently have a mix of Coir, Vermicultie and compost soil that i was using as growing medium for plants. Was using what was left of this to make more compost by adding about a dozen bananas peels and old strawberries from the fridge. Planning on adding a couple of cow patties and then using this substrate as a casing layer on my current grow. Before i waste valuable resources, is this plasible? Would think that Bananas and other fruit would be similar to using Straw and compost. Or maybe this is a bad idea. Im not sure.

You're growing mushrooms, not houseplants. Digested as compost, a small amount of that food waste will help your nitrogen levels...but they likely won't be digested by the mycelium as food and will rot.

totally NOT true, Bannas and other fruiting bodies from plants are digestable by mycelium, theres no reason they wouldnt be since they are organic matter that occurs naturally in nature and have nutrients and chemicals useable by mycelic tissue. The only problem i could see with strawberries is maybe if they have a citric content that could prove antifungal, which i doubt but theres always a 1%, im currently experimenting with using alternatives to BRF and other mainstay substrates and i find bannanas as an awesome nutrient dirivative, its porous soft and full of nutrients, just saying

You didn't need to dredge up an old thread to post nonsense, you already have a thread for that.

Whatever you do make sure you properly pasteurize your bulk sub. You know what a strawberry looks like after a week or so in the fridge. It's fuzz city.
