Help with my Myco-bag?
    #750051 - 07/16/02 05:16 AM (21 years, 4 months ago)

Heya, I received a Myco-bag and a Puerto Rican spore syringe from Sporeworks (good service, I'd recommend them) about a month ago. I broke up the substrate mixture up, injected 2.5cc's of spores into the bag, mixed the substrate a little more, and placed the bag back into the box and into my closet. My closet is around room temperature(close to 72 degree fahrenheit during the day, 68 degrees at night). I knew the closet would not be the best place it grow, but I needed a place where the bag would be concealed to anyone that might pass by.

After 3 weeks there was still no mycelium growth. So I moved the bag into a storage room in my garage, thinking the temperature was the main problem. The storage room is not air conditioned, and I live in the South, so you can guess it is pretty warm right now(a little over the prime temperature for growing). After about a week and a half there is still no mycelium growth. I'm getting a little impatient now, thinking I've given it enough time to start showing signs of growth. So I'm wondering, what is the problem? Could it be the temperature, or the Myco-bags itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'd shoot sporeworks an email, they're REALLY good about getting replacements, or at least offering suggestions prior to that, about their products.

I agree. Sounds like a bunk syringe. You should have seen growth way before now. It might have gotten cooked in mail somewhere. There have been some record high temperatures in my area (PNW). Ask customer service to cough up a replacement.

Alright, thanks for the feedback everyone. I've e-mailed SporeWorks so hopefully I can work something out.
