Right i inoculated my six BRF jars on the 1st of October, Im yet to see growth. These have been incubating with an air temperature of 27C/81F. The Thermometer recently fell over and was layed to rest on the bottom of my TiT. In the morning the temperature was shown to be 31C/88F this wont have caused a problem will it?
For the first three days of incubation it was at a 70F temperature (before i built my incubator). Should i give it a bit more time? Maybe create a LC with the remaining spores to see if they are the problem?
Nice one guys and gals

your still doing alright w/o seeing any mycelium yet just giv it more time and stop checking on them so much.
having your incubator up to 88 wont be a problem either. its not ideal but i dont think you have to worry about spores dying until like 106 degrees or something. gl

they air temperature in the TiT is fine at 81F but its jsut the base of the inside tub which is at 88F due to it being close to the heater i guess.

Think you should be fine as long as the temp around your jars is 81. If ur jars are on the bottom then it could be a little too hot, turn down the heater slightly in that case.

just a suggestion, when i use a TiT i throw down a folded up towl that covers the bottom of the tub where your jars go, it keeps the bottoms of the jars from getting to hot and drying out...your air temp is 81 and where the jars set is 88 deg. if you throw down a towl you will have even temps all around. that might help.

thanks for the advice.. when do you suggest that i should actually worry about not seeing any signs of growth?

sometimes it would take longer, after 2 weeks then u might start to get worried, though i have read of someone forgetting about a cake and a month later it starting growing.
At the 2 week mark, u can start to think something is not right.

I was in the same position you were.
At around the 9 day mark I saw no signs of growth and got really worried. They are colonizing at room temp so I was kinda discouraged. I checked yesterday (exactly 2 weeks from inoculation) and THERE IS GROWTH ALL OVER in 10 out of 10 mycobags!! The temps are very low for fruiting too. At this point im really happy.
Point is, just relax. I'm no expert, but just have patience and sti back. Make an effort to put them someone in the dark and not check on them for atleast another week. I'd be willing to bet you'll be pleasantly surprised when you check on them.
Good luck brotha!

Right its exactly 2 weeks after inoculation and i still have no signs of growth.
Ive come to the conclusion that i destroyed the spores when i realised that the jars must have got too hot.
I am going to reinject with more spore solution.. but is it wise to do this in jars that have been left for 2 weeks? or should i resterilise the jars or jsut start from scratch?
pretty disapointed but i knew something bad would happen on my first grow so i was prepared for the worst . you learn from mistakes im guessing!
