Yeh i know what you're saying. I'd trade my life now to be growing up back in the 60's and 70's. I'm 23 and i like more oldies music then recent, muscle cars i mean cmon. But ah well.

I've been getting that feeling almost every single day for the past year. As much as I love technology, I think my life would be a lot more manageable and productive if I had lived about 100-120 years ago.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. I feel like i should have been alive through the 60's. I wish i could have been there in those times when people were not afraid to get out and protest. But the times we live in now, could possibly be the most important time to be a youngster.

He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time TRANSCEND

I think everyone has that feeling.
my girl is 5 years younger than me, and she's pissed that she missed out on the golden age of raving and the wave of cool music that came out in the early to mid 90's when I was a teenager.
but I always tell her that I feel like I should have been born 5 or 10 years before I was, so I could have been in on the punk scene of the 80's.
anyway, I guess the moral of the story is: the grass is always greener on the other side.
really though, it doesn't matter what kind of culture was popular when you were growing up; you can always adopt the culture of a generation past. I know people my age who only listen to classic rock, even though they were not alive in the 60's or 70's. The only difference is that you are not enjoying that wave of culture alongside the masses, in the height of its popularity. As long as you aren't dependent on society's approval of your tastes, it really doesn't matter if what you like isn't currently popular.
-------------------- "America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

After seeing how much change has happened to our landscape even during my short lifetime when housing developments are more important than the beautiful stand of trees that was slaughtered. I wish I could see/explore what this land used to be. While I know that much change and many trees were cut down back then, there was also much more "virgin" land to see.

It's called nostalgia and it is a worthless notion.
I am perfectly happy living in this time. There is more information available to me today then ever before in history. Make no mistake these are exciting times we live in.
