rofl, this thing got me into an argument with my girlfriend.
First, I'm seeing it clockwise and she's seeing it counter, and won't believe that it's going clockwise for me. Then, when I show her the rotation with my finger, she starts seeing it clockwise and argues with me that the image changed.
I can't seem to convince her that it's not the image changing, but rather her.

thanks ravinoff. i was pissed i couldn't get it to switch at will till you suggested trying to feel which side of the brain i was using. i was going about it the wrong way.
does this mean that we can choose which half of our brains we want to dominate?
i think it probably more has something to do with which eye we're favoring would be my guess...

Oh man that really fucks with my head. Apparently I'm right brained but the left brained functions describe the kind of stuff that I'm "into" better.
Personally, I don't think they know enough about the brain for all this left brain right brain nonsense yet.

Alright.
A technique that seems to be working for me.
Get your forefinger, and put it in the middle between you and your computer screen,(so your pointing in the air) so when you look at the image your finger is in front of it but you can still see it. And heres the main part. Rotate ONLY your finger in a circle(not your hand), if you go anticlockwise, she goes anticlockwise, and vice versa.
Test it and get back to me

Got it to rotate in both ways about in minute. It's not the first time I see it though. It was posted in Science forum few months ago. So I kinda knew how it works. After some one mentioned it being fake I opened it in imageready and can say it's real thing for sure. 34 frames indeed like someone already stated.

I can see them both. Almost as if it's turning one way, then instantly turns another....or I'm just focusing too hard and it just looks like it switches direction.

This image is firmly clock-wise for me. I can't conceive of how it would be any other way. I tried staring at the shadow for minutes, slapping myself, turning my finger in the air...
If I didn't know better I'd bet my life on the fact that she is objectively spinning clock-wise. The fact that it can be seen any other way is astounding to me. Craziness.
As for the brain stuff, I am a musician who is terrible at math. So yea I guess I'm thoroughly right brained.
Astonishing stuff.

God, all I could see was her turning clockwise for the longest time, now I can see her turning counterclockwise and not clockwise. Either way I think it's bogus, I use functions from each side of the brain off of the lists they have.
