Is This Deadly Conocybe?
    #7498989 - 10/08/07 07:04 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Cap: 3/8" across, conical, brownish
Gills: yellow, close, can't remember if they were attached
Stalk: 1" long, off white to rusty brown with a veil in the middle
Habitat: raised planting box in backyard, seemed to be growing from the small ground cover
Spores: no print taken

I found these growing at a friend's house so I'd really like to find out if they are what I think they are. I know my ID is not the best but surely someone could tell me if it is conocybe filaris? Any help appreciated!

it could be but it's annulus does not appear to be friable. can it be noved freely up or down the stipe? this is a general feature i use in helping to identify this species.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I will check tomorrow when I go back & I'll try and get a spore print too. Thanks for the tip!
