Extraction Psilocybin development

I just learned today that mushroom cell walls are composed of chitin, something your body cannot naturally digest due to the 1-4 beta glycosidic linkages, as opposed to glucose and glycogen that have alpha glycosidic linkages. My question is this. Where exactly is the psilocybin stored in a mushroom? Inside the cells no doubt. If your body cant break open chitin formed cell walls how can it extract the psilocybin? Perhaps to try and potentiate the process of psilocybin extraction we should focus on chitin digestion - degradation? Just a thought I had.

Cell walls are not impermeable even if they have chitin in composition. Water can get in and out, so can psilocybin and psilocin.

Yes but this means that if you eat a mushroom whole say, the inner cells will be less likely to come in contact with water, because the outer cells will prevent the inner cells from coming in contact with water. Plus cell function in a dead fungi is going to be less than optimal, so unless they are fresh alot of the cells wont have psilocybin extracted from them. So unless you powderize the shrooms you are not going to be able to effectively extract all the psilocybin from each cell.

Well, I agree that, the extraction is better when they're in powder form. Generally when someone eats raw mushrooms in whole pieces they vomit.
I don't know exactly about the composition of the cell walls of Psilocybe cubensis, but I found this: http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?Doi=104144 Human Gastric Juice Contains Chitinase That Can Degrade Chitin

Alkaloids are verrrry small, whereas cells are pretty damn big, and have large pores. We can digest chitin, but we don't really need to as much as one might think. All of the pscilocybin/psilocin will drain out of the solid matter in your stomach, after which time you'll probably throw up the useless chunks of mushroom.

Extraction can be done using water as a polar solvent
Dry and grind (fine)
soak (in distilled water) for a while (2 - 4 hours) and agitate water (shake) regularly.
Filter thru coffee filter
soak in fresh water for another 15 min while shaking
filter again
combine the water from both extractions
Drink...
