In the water/coffee you soaked in. I bring it to a rapid boil for a few minutes. RR

gotcha just watched the vid again but i wasnt sure about the coffee. i was gonna ask tho, on my last grow (first attempt), i used your casing tek and my substrate was about 2" thick with my casing layer 1/2" thick but my mushrooms were pretty small. most were about 3/4-1 inch tall and the biggest being about 3". would a deeper substrate help?

It sounds like you needed to get it much wetter after full colonization. I make substrates on the dry side so they colonize faster, and then dunk before first flush. A two inch substrate and 1/2" casing layer should be plenty to get nice sized fruits.
I didn't show the use of coffee in the video because it's optional anyway, and I was afraid people would use too much, which actually slows down colonization. Better safe than sorry. I had it all filmed with coffee, and then decided to film that segment over again without it. RR

I would dunk it before you case it. The mycelium will hold the substrate together. Once you get the first flush you can dunk again and the mycelium will once again work to hold the casing layer together.
