i made some agar plates, i scraped spores on it, do they need to be wet to germinate?
also will bruised mushroom tissue still grow on the agar?

Take a drop of water to your print and swirl it around with your inoculation loop. That water should be enough to get them started. Just as long as your prepared your agar right they should do fine. When cutting a wedge out of a mushroom bruising is almost unavoidable so yes, bruised tissue will do fine.

The moisture in the agar will germinate the spores. Spores should be transferred with an inoculating loop. Don't scrape them into the agar. RR

thanks wutang .. let me know if I am out of line anytime .. you the man so here is the pic. I did the same procedure with oyster spores and they didn't do this greasy thing .. but now mycelium is there.. just would like an opinion ..
sorry for the poor quality I tried to get it clear.. but you can see the greasyness around the newly formed mycelium.. oh and I never had a problem with spores germinating on plain agar . like RR says, it just takes time ..

you don't need to add any moisture to agar plates
