Where do I even begin.

I just picked all these with my little nephew for the hell of it. Was wondering if I should pull any of these out and try to identify them. Could someone tell me if I possibly have anything here. I can get close up pics. I live in Minnesota and these were picked mainly in the woods, but a few were found by trees at a lake. Thx

you seem to have a couple of edibles in there. when picking mushrooms, you should take a devided breathable container, or a container big enough to hold several small paper sacks. when you collect one species, put it into it's own sack or compartment and keep them separated. it can be difficult to separate them afterward.
see what appear to be a few studded puffballs and one of the shaggy manes. these would require verification but are two of the safer edibles for beginners as long as you know what to look for.
if you want help with any identifications, keep your collections separate, read our description outline from the rules and make one for each description.

persoanly, i believe that once a bunch of random mushrooms have been collected in a jumble they should all be thrown out.
for reference however:

I don't think we should tell a complete beginner that his pure white mushrooms may be active. Even if you say don't eat them. Pure white mushrooms should never be considered by a beginner.
No offense intended.

I must say, even though these are completely jumbled and probably very hard to separate, they look really cool!

But yeah, good job finding that many in one day or however long it was, you at least know how to find them. Next time just bring a bunch of different sacks or containers to keep them all separated. Stick around here and before long you will know what you are doing. Welcome!

No shit! You should have heard me, I was all "Ahh!" when I opened the photo link!
Reminds me of my early hunts..
being overwhelmed, confused, and exhausted. You should do what I do, and let them rot on your porch.

Hahaha, i recall the conversation... did your gf complain??
I made the mistake of booting some over ripe porcini over the balcony and into the woods/yard this past summer..... Man, the stench is comparable to a corpse. I also managed to let some cook in a cooler in my trunk. The stink lasted at least a month. It was pretty awful.

If the poster seemed less intelligent, i would have edited your post. I know it is a joke, but that sorta shit is totally uncalled for. People can die from eating the wrong mushrooms. If you say something like that, be sure to include "j/k" or something indicating that you are not serious.
Telling people their finds ARE active, when they are not, will not be tolerated here.

What the FUCK? You are telling him or her to eat one of the deadliest mushrooms known to man!!!!!!!! Destroying Angel!
It does not have that name for nothing!!!!!!!!
I read and reread this post a few times to see if I was reading it wrong.
If I am wrong then sorry to butt in. But if I read this right, What the hell is wrong with you? Telling someone completely false information?
And again I am really sorry if I am putting my foot in my mouth.

Well, I thought the same... Though, there are other pure white Amanita, and there is a white A. muscaria... but generally speaking, beginners should not even consider eating an Amanita, much less a white one.

I like your calm approach to the situation. I was just taken aback when I read this. Knowing what you have just said, is there anyway that anyone could tell the deadly from the non deadly on macroscopic features alone? Could this person tell by looking at it in the picture?
And perdorker or predorker or however you say it coon, I am sorry for blowing up, but that is serious. I cannot think of anything more serious on this forum.

Not from that photo, no. I could tell the difference between a white Fly Agaric and a Destroying Angel, though I would not eat either.

Thanks.
It was fun. Sucks that I didn't know what most of them were. Now I do, and wish i could revisit some of those patches! However, I have moved north, in search of better hunting grounds.

Just to the left of the interesting orange mushrooms LouiseLouise circled in red you will see a cluster of three caramel brown colored mushrooms. These brown mushrooms look very close to deadly Galerina marginata. Over all you have a really cool collection!

These were the most abundant mushrooms out there.
I'm going on a second hunt today. Still raining here! Seeems like the shrooms are everwhere. This time I might try a feild or a golf course and see what is popping. Thx for the comments.
