magick occult, pagan psychedelic music

hey I am wondering if people could suggest any music that has profound lyrics specifically dealing with magick, occult, pagan, spiritual or psychedelic themes. I am mostly interested in the lyrics so I dont really consider techno or new age to count in this. I mostly listen to metal, punk and rock type stuff but feel free to suggest any kind of music but PLEASE put the genre along with the band (if its just to weird to have any genre put something like -other) Ill put some of the more obvious ones out already so they dont have to be mentioned even though they are awsome. If its just one song by a band thats cool too it doesnt have to be their whole discography Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Led Zepplin Tool Hawkwind Venom The doors King Krimson
One band that is more esoteric that i like is ABSU but it seems to be pretty hard to find any of their material.
Ive also heard of bands like Lemuria and Alchemy VII but I havent heard much of their music and Im not sure its my kind of style however they might appeal to some.

I forgot to add Coil to my previous suggestions in another forum. If you're looking for magick and pagan influenced music, this is pretty much spot on in that regard. They had a wide range of music across their career. I suggest you start with Transparent (their first album, it's with Zos Kia). There's another album called Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil that I highly recommend that is meant as a ritualistic purge of negative emotions. Slightly unpleasant My personal favourite is the Moon's Milk album (it's a double album, which collects the 4 solstice/equinox EPs into one package; each EP was released around the time of each solstice/equinox). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons_Milk_%28In_Four_Phases%29 As for genre, I would say loosely it's experimental (very experimental) electronic. Don't be put off by that; I enjoy the bands you have listed, and Coil are one of my favourite bands.
Here is some info on the band itself if you want to look further into their workings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coil_%28band%29

I had to remove your post in Mysticism, I figured you'd get more responses here. Please choose one forum for a particular thread in the future, Thanks.
Anyway, There are lots of people out there (myself included) working on music like you described.
Really GOOD music like you described is very difficult to find (and produce).
There are lots of Mystical / Occult bands on the indie / local level, but most of them need a lot more development...
In Five or Ten years there will be lots of kick-ass Occult-ish bands to list.
But for now I keep jamming on Hawkwind and f00l...
(Check out the bands ISIS if you haven't already, and Dead Can Dance - Spiritchaser)

i like Absu too.. i was able to find some stuff on SoulSeek.
a couple "folk metal" bands i will recommend... Cruachan Tuatha de Danann
there are probably thousands of "folk metal" bands with appropriate lyrics but like Middleman said they're mostly local or not recorded etc..
check out OM for heavier drums/guitar stuff.. the writer/bass player is definitely on a mystical trip.
Turambar... "doom metal"

You might like a new band called The Klaxons, they are labelled as dance punk but are pretty pyschedelic too. Their lyrics deal with subjects like futurism:
Klaxons' music is often supernatural and magic-realist in theme, as shown in a number of song titles and lyrical content. Examples of this are "As Above, So Below" (favourite saying of Aleister Crowley), "Atlantis to Interzone" (a William Burroughs reference), "Magick" (Crowley) and "Four Horsemen of 2012"/"Gravity's Rainbow" (Thomas Pynchon references). The original name of Klaxons comes from a line in the art text, The Futurist Manifesto. "Forgotten Works" also contains references and lines from Richard Brautigan's In Watermelon Sugar.

it is a shame that so many talented and profound bands go unheard.. if anyone has any good download sites to suggest for these kinds of bands id love to know.. ill try soul seek like clean suggested but i usually just use lime-wire and torrents.. though i haven't heard any new music in a long long time.. kinda was disillusioned with it all hopefully this stuff will change that

You could try signing up to www.lastfm.com It tracks what you listen to on the computer then makes recommendations based on your listening taste. Found many obscure bands on there. I don't think you even need to sign up; just go looking at the artist pages and check out all the "related band" links on the left hand side.

93 Coil is the poop!!! Keep in mind that their albums are rather pricey. But if people will spend over $1000 on occult books like the Azoetia, it's perfectly reasonable to spend a fraction of that on music. Btw, although their music is incredibly vast, they described their older music(pre-"music to play in the dark") as solar influenced and the later as lunar.
Alongside Tool, my favorite band is Fields of the Nephilim. As with tool, I do'nt feel that their fan base really coincides with the message. Therefore, they were merely labeled as a goth band by people who ca'nt dig beneath the surface. They started in the mid 80's and lasted to '90 in the initial carnation. In '96 Carl McCoy did the "zoon" album under the name nefilim with a new group of musicians. This was a harder, more metalish effort, but again, that does'nt really do the album justice. It was a better outlet for much of the magickal energy that was repressed during the Elizium days. Finally, in 2005, McCoy recorded an album called "Mourning Sun" in various locations using a mobile studio. IMO, this is the masterpiece. I can see how it would be hard for most people to take this in at first, but trust me, it's the poop. McCoy also has a magickal order called "The order of the 24th Moment" which is invitation only. For someone getting into FOTN, I would reccomend the live album "Earth Inferno", which combines their efforts in the original era, before getting into Zoon and Mourning Sun. For downloading individual songs, I would reccomend "submission", "celebrate", and "psychonaut"; the later McCoy efforts really have to be listened to in their entirety as an album. 93 93/93 P.S. Crikey, that sounds like some cut n' paste robot jib from a be-pimpled ham n' chhhheeessseeeeee, starburst n' sipps totin' 7th grade bukkake burger would puke on a parchment 'bout his favorite lil boy band. Imma tell ya, sometimes i get all tangled in dat lower circuitry wiring.Wooo. LVX. IAO. And all that jazz. Does a fish perceive air as a lawyer water? Wallow in the stream o gilded piranha.

Try the soundtracks for Suspiria, Deep Red etc by the Italian prog-rock group Goblin.
The theme from Suspiria will knock your socks off!
