Hi guys. I've done the PF Tek a few times and it's been pretty sucessful, but I'd like to take it to the next level and use a method that can produce more of the little beauties than the PF. I'll be growing indoors.
Any suggestions on a new tek/method to try?

Im on my first grow and i went straight to grains. WBS in quarts, spawned to coir/manure/bloodmeal in a double tub.
personally, i think the pftek is pointless. If you can read and follow directions you can do grains. Just be sure to read over the teck many times. Enough so that you have the procedures memerized.

I totally agree with that sentiment. Pressure cooker withstanding, there is no point to ever doing the pf tek.

I'd suggest just doing coir/coffee mix. There's none of this, "is this the right poo? Is it too dry, too wet, is there anti fungal agents in it?" stuff. You go into a pet store, buy two bricks of coir, go to starbucks, ask for their spent grounds, and go back to your house and mix it all up. The only cost is the coir, since the grinds are free. Plus I find coir a lot less messy than various forms of manure.

For the record, I have had zero contams out of a cumulative of 16 1/2 pint jars filled with WBS boiled with no PC on 3 separate occasions added up. The thing is you have to use 1/2 pints, not anything bigger. I also let the WBS soak in water for 24 hours to (possibly) germinate all the nastys, before simmering and then boiling for an hour.
Also, I ..... also .. agree that plunging right to grains is fine. I did it, never messed with pf myself.

Yes the PF Tek at least got me aquainted with the growing process. Over the next few days I'll be reading up on grains and coir/coffee mix <- what the heck is coir anyway? I haven't come across this yet.
I was looking at a tek that started with a rice flour/verm cake that u colonize, incubate, chop up in a food processor and mix into a tray of horse poo, I don't remember exactly which tek, but does anyone have experience with this method?
so many teks.. so many methods.. so many hours of entertainment

coir is the ground up outside of the coconut minus the fibers. it's a great substrate by itself although I'd add a nitrogen source, and it makes a good casing when mixed with vermiculite. You can find it in most pet stores.
I remember seeing the tek you mentioned and it seemed perfectly fine to me. I still say step up to grains! Your colonization time will be cut and I think it's more productive.

I've settled on BRF jars spawned to a 50/50 mix of coir and composted manure. I case them with Miracle Grow Moisture Control in little monotubs. I don't 'set-and-forget' though; I fan them out and mist.
No PC needed, good yields.

I'm considering using LC to a "signature substrate bag".
