I went up to the coast yesterday and found a couple actives but nothing big. I was wondering if there was anything that i could pick in my hometown ST. Helens? the beach wont be ready for a couple more days.

Actually there should grow everything that grows in other parts of the state (Cyans, Azures etc.).

Is it better to go to a higher elevation? Also what is the park on the oregon coast that has no mushroom picking signs?

Be careful at the fort. I remember the old days when rangers would actually tell you the best spots to go. Now they bust ya. Be sure to carry a camera so the 'I'm just taking pictures' story can work.

Just be careful, every time I've been there I've been harassed and some friends were also arrested once for just walking around and refusing to show them their backpack....

you don't know of any municipal parks? no libraries with landscaping? no unused or seldom used private lots, etc adjoining the beach?

be creative about targeting habitat and you won't have to be limited to a few places many people already know about.

Kinda spendy idea but if you looking for some fun and good shrooming rent a beach house with some good area around it. Alot of beach house communites have very well landscaped areas and some good forest and feilds around them.

beach areas do not require landscaping, as beach grasses and dune grasses provide their own source of woody debris. as do the tides. the areas just above the intertidal zone are good, as the salt water dosen't usualy reach so far, but the bigger storms frequently deposit such woody material into the periphery of the grasses. the grasses help hold in humidity and keep the soil loose and aerated.
