I had that with my first cake that pined only from the bottom i got a not bad flush, about 18 grams wet, its probably because under the cake has the best conditions for growing, more humidity possibly. The should be picked if your first flush is done then u can redunk your cake.

Aborts happen, i had about 10 or so from my first flush, i got 4 or 5 semi decent sized shrooms and several smaller ones then the aborts.

Pins that form on the bottom can easily find their way out. I've seen a mushroom push a twenty pound rock out of its way.

I agree they're probably forming there because of low humidity in the FC.

hehehe, i posted something good!!! if it is indeed humidity, then u could maybe look at your fruiting chamber. Not enough perlite?? Im gonna have to look at mine as i think thats my problem not enough humidity. Hav just added another inch of perlite while my cakes are dunking to see if it helps.

i have the cakes sitting on lids and when i pick the cakes up (there are alot of pins under the cakes) i notice condensation on the lids this could be why they are growing under there because it is more optimal.

should i take the cakes off the lids and put them on a piece of rabbit fence propped up off the perlite? would this help?

i have 4.5" of perlite and my hygrometer reads 96% all the time

hmmm not sure. I just left mine to grow I don't think it will cause any ahrm except if u get a big ass shroom push the cake over.

if ur humidity is 100% then I don't see why not
