Is it possible to buy open cup supermarket mushrooms and print from them?

I tried that, but i think since the caps are already open they have dropped all there spores already.

You could take peice of tissue and clone it. Make up and LC

it's possible to do but super market mushrooms' genetics have been stretched to the limit. I was told that this was done so that other growers couldn't steal genetics from other farms. if you managed to get spores or even cloned a supermarket mushrrom, I doubt the growth would be exceptional.

Supermarket oyster mushrooms are of a special kind that doesn't drop spores, since some are allergic to pleurotus spores.

Tissues of any mushroom will clone, or they won't have formed themselves.

let me clarify myself.

When you do a multi spore grow and clone a mushroom, that would be a first generation clone. if you keep taking clones from mushrooms that you cloned (ie: you do not allow sexual reproduction to renew genetic material), eventually, the genetic material will degrade, reducing the "spunk" and viability of your strain. when the genetic material degrades, this is known as senescence.

if you are interested in growing edible mushrooms, a much better idea would be to visit one of the sponsers for some spores or cultures. ~$20 for the cheaper strains is well worth it in my opinion for personal growing.
