Sound Tribe Sector 9, they are a really weird type of psychedelic electronica. I saw them the other day and it was the best show I've ever been to, and I've been to 100's of shows.

Sounds groovy
I actually did know what that was but I just assumed it was an event akin to a rave

It was actually a lot like a rave, everyone was tripping. Lots of 16 year olds too. Good scene, much better than the lame ass club scene that I usually go to.

Oh, the one big difference between seeing them and a rave was that they are actually talented.

cool well I definitely have heard a few of these bands and I like them I just didnt want to list ALL of the ones I knew.. but anyways if people could put what kind of genre their suggestion is it might help narrow down some stuff for anyone (not just me) who is interested in finding new music. Since this doesnt have to be for just my tastes thats why its perfectly good to mention hip hop etc but it would be good if i knew it was hip hop before i downloaded it. thanks

I would recommend The Beatles as usual, but if you mostly listen to the harder stuff, then you might just want to check out some more Hendrix.

I second both. Especially Shulman. His new album is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
Can't wait to get it on CD.

OK, Shalabi Effect's self titled album is a mix of eastern and drone. A lot of weird instruments cropping up and is VERY psychedelic, in the true sense of the word. It's also 2 discs and over 2 hours long. Sleep is stoner/doom. The album Dopesmoker is a single track that is nearly an hour long. Very meditative. It also rocks. Acid Mothers Temple & The Cosmic Inferno is basically psychedelic freak out music. The album I recommended is 2 tracks, the first being a soaring, feedback driven epic song that is around 45 minutes long. Acid Mothers Temple also has a different incarnation called Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. which is equally as good. Feedbacks and freak outs.
