well, since last wednesday i noticed the growth and now sunday night i had to give them a shake. i think by this coming wednesday i should be good to go or i could just wait till friday night. any thoughts? it has been 5 days and i am impressed with the results to rr's rye tek. i think i nailed it with only loosing 1 jar out of 11.5 quarts.
anyways the real point to this question is i have a couple choices to go with for casing... 1. i have 4 bags of jiffy mix (from what i heard i could just use out the bag but need to sterilize first) 2. i could go with Miracale grow moisture control or the catus one ? 3. i have verm, coir, peat moss, perlite, gypsum, hydrated lime, crushed oyster shells, could i make my own?

oh before i forget, if anyone replies back to me. Please for the love of God... Do not say add this many parts to this many parts...why you ask?
I have no clue at all, by all means to what you mean, by x-parts per parts... I just would rather it be by cups.(add 5 cups verm, 3 cfups perlite ect..ect..) I have tried to understand many people at many times, and have even had people get mad at me cause they couldnt get me to understand the parts by parts method.. its just a me thing i guess.. lol..

This might help out a bit. But it's a pictorial for Panaeolus casing, not cubensis. I haven't gotten around to the cube one yet.
You can use this, just switch out peat moss for the cactus mix shown. Before you use your peat, sift it really, really well. Like with the fine mesh strainer shown. Wear a mask when you do it. The goal is to remove all of the uncomposted woody material from the peat. That stuff is like a magnet for green mold, and you don't want it in your casing mixture.
So yes, make your own. Use peat, well sifted peat and add the hydrated lime and gypsum to it. If you want measurements in cups, it's as follows:
For each cup of dry, sifted peat moss, add: 1 teaspoon of hydrate lime 1 tablespoon of garden gypsum
have the vermiculite and peat be in 50/50 ratios. nothing gets added to the vermiculite. the peat/hydrated lime/gypsum combo gets hydrated separately from the vermiculite, and once both are hydrated separately, they're mixed together. That gives me the best results by far.

I use jiffy-mix myself because it's pretty much the peat/verm/lime mix people make themselves with the separate components. There is most definitely a convenience charge for buying it that way, no doubt about it though but since you already have it, you're golden, no further amendments needed.
However, I would advice you (steam) pasteurize it rather than sterilize it. There are a number of ways to do this but the most simplified method is follow RR's advice here...
RR's Casing Hydration & Pasteurization Method
...I sincerely believe that being able to create and verify the proper moisture before pasteurization and **properly** maintaining the correct internal temperatures during the entire pasteurization process is absolutely critical...and yet it seems to be the single sticking point where most people cut the most corners and take the biggest risks.

I think if you pay better attention to that link, you'll find that the casing is pasteurized exactly how you described. I just do it in a pc instead of a pot.

In all honesty, I hadn't read your post before posting and wasn't intending to offer it as a rebuttal/alternative...right on.

oh, my bad. I assumed you saw the pictorial and thought I showed how to sterilize and not pasteurize because I was using a PC for the stovetop pasteurization.
so I guess we're both correct...
