My first freelance computer repair.

My old boss called me for some help with his older XP machine. I basically got that thing's 256MB of RAM run like a gig . I hooked him up with Nod32, cleaned his registry, temp files, all that. Tried to upgrade his RAM but his mobo is too old and it's an off-brand computer so flashing the BIOS wouldn't have been an easy task.
What's cool is I made a pretty professional looking invoice and charged him $175, breaking down each step and each cost in layman's' terms and he's completely cool with it! I'm so proud of myself!
PS. KVM Switches are GOD when helping people with PC issues!

5 dollars to blow dust around inside the case...lol..

... But I'm in the super awesome, smogged up NYC area now.
Perhaps when I'm home over Thanksgiving that'll be possible.

$10 to clean the startup? Fucking A.
-------------------- My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you. -The Joekenorer

$50 to install anti-virus software?
Jesus christ dude. Maybe it would have been better if you didn't actually itemize and seperate how exactly you ripped him off.

with that kind of markup i would think that you are an auto mechanic. for double the price you could have built him a computer.

I made his system pristine. Anywhere else would've charged him twice that and then some.

Yeah... just because YOU know how to do things on a computer doesn't mean the average person does. Just like a mechanic knows how to rebuild an engine, doesnt mean he's going to do it for free.
Geek Squad charges like $75-100/hr. no matter how retarded the job.
