ID Request - Jack O' Lantern or Chanterelle?

Found a few of these guys today.. I think they are Chanterelles, but just wanted to check with one of the locals. I haven't observed the Omphalotus illudens yet, but from what I have read on them, the gills are much closer together and thinner..
Thanks all.

Habitat: growing in deciduous and coniferous mulched dirt (natural mulch from tree fallings). almost sure they were growing in the dirt and not around any trees, unless the wood was underground. found in amongst ferns and salal. the ground is very wet here, its been raining for a week..
Gills: the picture makes them look more yellow, but to me, its a neon orange.. the gills are spread apart and are very thick. the gills fade into the stem. some gills have a fork or two towards the cap. no distinguishable taste or smell.
Stem: same color as the cap and gills, neon orange. solid white flesh inside. no distinguishable taste or smell.
Cap: same color as the gills and stem, neon orange. smooth, forming somewhat a indented spot in the middle. no distinguishable taste or smell.
Bruising: no color change was observed.
Location: pacific northwest, coastal washington.

Thanks greorgeM Going to go out picking then. I spotted loads of them, but didn't want to waste the time if they turned out to be Jacks.

chants have "false gills". Pretty hard to mistake them for a true gilled mushroom, IMHO.
nice find, though. I'm gonna have to look around for more really soon. Too busy finding pan subbs right now.

No, they smell like, well, not much of anything. In my field guide it says that they should taste a bit "peppery".. these don't.
