Quick Rye Question

I just did up some rye grain and when I put the jars in the PC, I tightened the lids all the way, then loosened them each just a little. Is this a mistake? When I took them out for innoc the grain looked dryer than I remember it should look (Its been awhile). Any thoughts, did I fuck myself?

As long as the grains are simmered long enough & hydrated enough, should be ok.

I have done 20 qt. rye jars so far following Magesh's Rye tek:

You should be fine, although leaving the lids tight at all times is the way it's done. This insures the gas exchange is through the tyvek/polyfil filter and not escaping the sides.

and from my own personal experience dryer grains colonized abit faster then ones on the wetter side.

I followed Magesh's tek as well and have followed it before with much success. I simmered for around 50mins until the first Kernels began breaking, however I did not bring the water to a boil first then add the grain as he suggests. Seems I overlooked that step. At any rate, I took my time with the simmer and had it on a low heat the entire time (There were a few bubbles here and there rising through the grain as it cooked). I guess im just going to have to cross my fingers at this point. This is my first try at this in about six months so Im a little rusty.
