Mycelium Balls in LC ??
    #7494500 - 10/07/07 01:47 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

This is my first attempt at a liquid culture. The jar was inoculated 6 days ago. Strain is PESA. I give the jar a vortex whirl at least once a day, and there are these little tiny balls of mycelium forming all over the place. I haven't seen anything like this in any of the pictures on here.

I would also like to note that I have two other LCs and neither has balls like this, just stringy mycelium.

There are green glass shards in the bottom to help break up the mycelium when I swirl the jar.

ah, okay!

Well, from the pics, they look good. I had one like that, it's just what happens when they're stirred a lot and not allowed to clump together. It'll make it a lot easier to suck out.

Of course only one way to know.

keep a close eye on it. the mold i've grown in liquid is usually thick and consistent in shape and the thickness (looks like a marshmellow or cotton ball, lol). mycelium tends to be a bit more random.
