Ethical Relativism
    #7493468 - 10/07/07 02:29 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Ethical relativism has been bothering me a lot lately. It seems like no ethical system can account for the fact that they are bound by societal concepts and thus do not define our humanity. It would seem that due to our ability to reason that we should strive to be a higher human being by living spirituality and freedom overall. Yet, we bound ourselves by silly notions of right and wrong. However, it would seem that to live in todays' world we need to feed moral systems that depend on sociological order. In a sense, I believe that all moral systems are wrong, yet there seems to be a reason to better yourself outside of moralistic norm. This seems to breed a new moralistic order but in it I find no companions. Is this the fate of people who strive to find "post-moralistic" notions?

Excuse me, but if you want to consider transcending the human condition then I think being without companions is elemental, wouldn't you agree?

Becoming aware of ethical relativism brings us one step closer to acceptance. How can all this make us more unable to find companions? From what I know, acceptance is exactly what helps humans create stronger and more deeper relationships.
Perhaps you can explain me you point of view though. :strokebeard:

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but yes, the problem with the laws that govern a society is that they are too restricted by imposed morality, which was in turn, imposed by religion.
