Need help identifying, Psilocybe silvatica? Pacific Northwest
    #7493384 - 10/07/07 01:21 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Went picking for mushrooms today in the rain and found a nice cow pasture. I picked a bunch of these mushrooms, along with some blue ringers that i already ate. Are these ones active and safe to eat? If you need any more information please let me know. Thanks.

Habitat: Cow pasture, stemmed directly from cow dung.

Gills: The gills are dark black, but over time have turned gray through the drying process.

Stem: Brown, pretty fragile, easily bruised

Cap: Dark brown when first picked, turned to light gray ash color, easily bruised.

Spore print color: Black

Bruising: Went from dark brown to gray

Location: Picked in Pacific Northwest, Washington cow pasture

Nope, not silvaatica. First of all you won't find silvatica growing in dung, second of all those look like they have black spores. Psilocybes have a chocolatey purple spore print.

Also, what did the "blue-ringers" look like that you picked. Where did you find them? I just want to make sure that is what you actually ate, because there are deadly look-alikes for stuntzii.

Just make sure you are 110% sure with psilocybes. Lots of research really helps!
