Basic Faith.

Humans put faith into all sorts of strange things. I don't know if it's so much worthwhile to banish faith as to understand why you want to put faith into something.
I have spent the last couple of years discarding most of my culturally based beliefs. Emotionally coming to grips with my belief that I don't have the tools to really know what life is about and so finding myself without much to believe in and finding my current thinking separates me from the thoughts and beliefs of much of humanity. When this first started I was faced with quite a bit of anxiety and something like feeling depressed. I decided to hang with it though and try to ride it through and I feel that I am starting to feel relaxed with uncertainty. I had to wonder why this is so. I think it's because I have a basic faith in whatever I'm uncertain about. In other words whatever the truth might be. I don't think it's out to get me.

You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough.
I think this basic faith you speak of is a healthy and balanced position.
