DMT and dreaming

Heloo, haven't posted on the Shroomery in a while but i saw something interesting on the internet the other day and was wondering if anyone could give me some more info about it. Our brains produce DMT naturally however apparently when we go to sleep, large amounts of DMT are produced and this has something to do with dreaming.. not sure how much of this is true however if it is it would be great if someone could provide some links to some information about this. Cheers

Wikipedia says DMT is naturally produced in small amounts in the brains and other tissues of humans, and other mammals,[11] some believe it plays a role in promoting the visual effects of natural dreaming, and also near-death experiences and other mystical states.

Dmt being produced during dreaming was just strassman's theory. Joe Rogan isn't someone to listen to about facts on this stuff, lol.

yeah definitely only a theory and one that i do not find true. What part is it supposed to play in dreaming? the visuals? the thoughts? Or something more in depth?

Keep asking questions...that's how you learn I invite you do a little self experimentation and see how you feel about the subject

i think it has aome truth. but how where and when we dream i dont think we will ever know. but dmt, has too many things in common with the dream state to just say its not true, we still have very litttle idea about most anything around us. let alone whats in the center of our beings

Ive never tried DMT so i couldn't say my views about whether i think its linked to dreaming although i am quite interested about it. Hopefully will be trying it sometime soon for the first time.

Dreaming and DMT are two completely different things. After DMT use, however, I find that I tend to have a number of lucid dreams. Yet, I do not believe that DMT is what causes you to dream, for once you experience a DMT breakthrough, you will realize just how different it is from dreaming. However, it can have an effect on dreaming, I believe. I just don't think that it is what causes us to dream.
