alot of people use something like damp-rid or the like, to suck up the moisture in the air, put the shrooms in a container with some damp-rid, (but not touching the damp rid) and seal it up, it will suck the rest of the moisture out of the shrooms, cracker dry

maybe if you have a de-humidifier you could put that in the room. It will suck out the moisture. Some people have these in there basement. They are somewhat inexpensive. Depending on how big you go. I have never tried it, just a theory.

all desiccant does is take moisture from the air surrounding it, and absorb it like a sponge. Yes, i wouldn't go eating it, but i'm fairly sure almost everyone on the boards here uses damp-rid or similar to either dry, or help store dried mushies for a long period. i'm using it at the moment, and in 24 hours (After putting one shroom into my drying box) it's bone dry. So i can't see how it's too bad. Just my thoughts anyway.

like has been said, desiccant is what you need i would suggest letting them air dry for a day or two first, just to get the bulk of the moisture gone or you will be replacing your desiccant left and right
i've never used damp-rid but the kind of desiccant that i use has little blue indicator crystals in it that turn pink when they have reached maximum water capacity, all i have to do is put them in the oven at 250degrees until they turn blue again
goto the dollar tree and get one of their many kinds of baskets for a grate
they have drying racks (gotta put foil on them so shrooms dun fall through) and then they have drying baskets with much smaller holes all in all, i guess it comes down to what type of container you have
i have a 28"x11" container with an entire bag of desiccant in it and then a metal basket on top of that which holds the mushrooms up out of it
i usually get cracker dryness with minimal work by 2 days of airdry and a night in the drying chamber

I use my pc's fan. 2 days and they're cracker. I've modified the design in the pic with a multi-layered cardboard box with funnels over both fans.

I disagree. most people here do NOT use a desiccant for drying. most people here use nesco food dehydrators. the snackmaster kind to be more specific. desiccants are too messy, costly, time and labor consuming. using a nesco snackmaster food dehydrator set at 100 degrees is the way to go. simple, clean, reusable, quick and efficient. cracker dry every time.
