Umm, liek, no.
If our universe is 47 billion light years across, and we are somewhere in the midst of it, an object we see can't be 47 billion lightyears away. That were only possible if we are on one edge looking at the other.

It's amazing to watch one video that shows the size comparison to our most commonly known sun Sol, to the largest known star, VV Cephei, and then continue to watch only to figure out on a scale of our galaxy, Milky Way, Cephei only stands about 1/1,700,000 of a PIXEL to a picture with the Milky Way spreading across the entire area. And then to stare at "47 Billion light years" (proclaimed), into "Space" and to see millions, amounts of other galaxies is absolutely mind-boggling and beyond me. I'm sorry if someone is offended if I advocate my belief in other existent life out there. It is like representing the earth as a molecule, perhaps, on a piece of algae in the ocean, and then scoop the entire oceans from land to land up and contain this amount in a tank, let's say, and back the statement of not having any other algae in this amount. Maybe I'm a bit anti-conservative, but man is too self-proposed.

That was very cool. I think when they say the universe is that big, they mean "the known universe".

So i just found out that Carl Sagan was pro pot. Back when i was a serious stoner, I used to love getting blazed and watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos series. Maybe thats why it was so agreeable.

Light cannot be "47 billion light years" old. A light-year is not a measure of time.

Ive watched cosmos and read the book, but i never got to watch it while i was stoned...
my older bro was a big Carl Sagan fan and a smoker so he got me into Sagan back in high school
i would love to watch cosmos again after a nice smoke out....I'm sure it is even better while pleasantly stoned

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. I had seen this before and I think that it's something everyone should see. Once you see this it seems kind of foolish to deny that there might possibly be other life in the universe. Seems very probable to me. Also I love the music selection. Can't go wrong with a little Pink Floyd.
Has anyone ever seen the videos of "Prophet Yaway"? Its this black guy who summons UFO's by praying. Pretty nifty... what do you think?
He's done it several times, just search for him on youtube.

Somebody floated a ping pong ball with a blowdryer and superimposed it onto the other footage. Probably the news channel themselves did it. They just didn't have anything better to report at the time.

Light cannot be "47 billion light years" old. A light-year is not a measure of time.
That's right, it is a measure of distance. If we see anything that is 47 billion light years away, it means the image is composed of light that was emitted from the object 47 billion years ago.
The sun you see when you look at the sky is what the sun looked like 8 and a half minutes ago. It takes that long for its light to made the 93 million mile trip. It is impossible to know what it looks like at the moment.

Actually I saw this video some time ago when I was looking at some quantum physics stuff and yes, I did cry.
Actually I cried for like 5 minutes coz it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, and put everything in perspective really well.
The scale and majesty of the universe is truly, as you said, inspiring.

Quote from the Flat Earth's FAQ sheet...
Q: "What's underneath the Earth?" aka "What's on the bottom?" aka "What's on the other side?"
A: This is unknown. Some believe it to be just rocks, others believe the Earth rests on the back of four elephants and a turtle.
