School is a great way to avoid having a job. I've got a few years to go, although I'll probably have a couple little jobs here and there before I'm done school.

this poll is invalid without a STAL option for those with jobs that want to see results....
i don't have a job, haven't for a few years. i do odd jobs here and there for cash and i get by fine. I may or may not get a real job, doesn't matter to me, but i won't work for anything corporate, i'd rather work for a relaxed small business owned locally and independently.

they still deserve to see the results... maybe they too are interested. maybe they want to quit their job, but first want to see how many of us can survive without needing to get one. maybe they want to see how many lazy fucks are on this website. theres numerous reasons why this poll's results could be informative to a person with a job.
maybe you need to think about everyone and not just what you want, because this IS a community. everyone deserves to see it.

I'm going to either go back to school and do something that I've always wanted to or else just work odd jobs without commitment. My wife is doing good in nursing school (4.0) So maybe for once in my life I'll just say, "I don't give a fuck" and deliver newspapers, pizzas..what ever. I have to do something tho, I don't like the idea of being lazy. I'ld be a drifter if I didn't have a family that depends on me.

My unemployment just ran out so I'm going to need a job pretty soon here. I think I'm going to wait untill my winter break from school is over until I start filling out applications, that'll be late January. I've got enough money in the bank to last me until then. I'll just be looking for a part time job for now while I'm going to school. When I'm done with school in a year and a half I'll be working in the HVAC/R field.

I think it's different for every state but in my state you have to have been employed for at least 6 months and then get laid off or get fired to be eligible for unemployment. If you're fired your employer has the right to appeal your unemployment if they want but mine didn't. If you've been working at your current job for longer than 6 months you could get fired on purpose and most likely collect unemployment for 6 months. That's what I did.
I was working in a shit hole factory making $13 dollars an hour building semi-trailers. At first I was working in plant #2 which was a 20 minute drive from my house but eventually that plant got shut down and I was transfered to plant #4 which was a 45 minute drive from my house. I was spending way to much time and money on gas just to get to work and back so I got fired on purpose. For the next 6 months I got $270 a week for nothing. It was nice while it lasted.

My brother gets unemployment for no longer being on active duty in the reserves. As soon as he got back from Iraq he filed for it and was eligible. Not sure that finishing your tour qualifies as being laid off or getting fired.
Just thought I would add that to the mix.
