HIV TEST (-)

can't express fully how great it feels!!!!!!!!!!
My Test for HIV came back neg. This summer, I was rather promiscuous and have been sweating the possibility of having HIV. A girl I had slept with turned out to be rotten nasty as far as reputation goes, and I was sure I had contracted something. I went on Monday to get the full on wiener exam. Got the call today and All is well! Never again will I be such a klutz...

That would be the wisest choice. It avoids a lot of complications, I've found.

grats. So you'd rather know and not be able to do anything about it then know. I see. I went years ago for something that was bothering me but the woman said it was normal and i never recieved any bad news. Still kinda sketched out tho. What if shes wrong, can i sue that bish? o i would.

Of course I would want to know! I can't handle the paranoia man. Every itch and ingrown hair brought me closer to the conclusion, "I have it"
Technically, I'm not in the clear. My doctor recommended I retest in 3 month's after my last sexual encounter and to abstain between that time. If you're still "sketched out" or something is afunk down there, retest. You may be the kind of person that can breathe easy about something of this nature but for me, the anxiety was terrible...

yup, ive shared needles in the past (not something im particularly proud of) but my last tests showed negative when i had a drug-induced seizure. i havent had another transmission since then so i consider myself to be fairly safe.
all i know is that if i ever were to be diagnosed with HIV or cancer or another serious terminal illness, i would live the last 6 months of my life with satisfaction just the way i wanted it, than living through hell in a confined space in a hospital.
gotta take the consesquences for your actioins mate....

"Up to 14 weeks" is the number you'll get from most sources. HIV tests actually only test for the antibodies your body produces to resist the virus. It can take that long (3 months) for them to show up.
To the original poster: depending on when your indiscretions occurred, you may want to get retested to know for sure for sure.

I went backpacking a couple of years ago round southeast Asia. I was a bit unbalanced back then so i ended up sleeping around a lot. Against better judgment i also hooked up with lots of local girls. Fucked most of them with a condom but after a couple of shags i started feeling safe so went bareback. Needless to say when i got back to reality i realized what a fool I'd been and given the quantity of tail I'd been getting that i was definitely in the danger zone.
The horrible thing was that i had to wait for at least 3 month after my last fuck before i could get the test or the viral count in my blood would have been to love to detect. God damn it was awful waiting for the time to pass and finally to get the result. Even after i got HIV negative i started getting paranoid whenever i got the flu or something thinking it was symptoms of HIV.
Lots of my friends told me how much of an idiot i was but you'd have to have been there with me to understand how it was. Normal rules did not apply.

You guys obviously don't know much about HIV...it has absolutely no effect on your genitalia. Itching, burning, ingrown hairs, crabs, scabs, sores, discharge...NONE of that is a symptom of HIV or even full-blown AIDS.
It blows my mind that despite all the consequences of unprotected sex, people still do it, and with people they don't really even know, love, or trust in a monogamous relationship. I'm glad your test came out negative, but suppose it hadn't? Would you have unknowingly spread the disease to other people? It happens all the time and could be prevented by using condoms, abstaining from sex, disinfecting your needles, and using other simple precautions. I'm not preaching, I just think this subject matter is a little more serious than joking about "calling her and saying you're + anyway".
Congrats again and be careful in the future.

Man, I appreciate the congratulations. I continue to tell myself just how lucky I escaped. Who knows? This girl could have had a cleaner sex life than I, but it still served as a wakeup call to quit dicking around.
I've read over the symptoms and one that stood out and eventually decided for me was a flu-like fatigue. This has persisted for a good four months now, and I could never put my finger on what was the cause. I'm one to initially think the worse for myself and assumed that I had something serious. Along with my HIV test, I had a general evaluation. Doc said that my fatigue could be caused by the combination of my acute anxiety and stress.
I'm only twenty and just recently I've begun to confide in how sensitive your health becomes with age. I surely am not ready to buckle down and ride the life of being HIV (+) and this scare has given me the initiative to better my health overall. I see it as having a new lease on life and HELL YEAH I'm going to grasp it.
Thanks again brother
