Down 2-0, but going back to Wrigley.
NOTHING has been easy this season. Why would I expect the playoffs to be any different?
It just sucks to be SO confident in a pitcher, and have them melt down for no real tangible reason. Lilly gave up 6 runs in 3 1/3 last night, and it was by far his worst performance of the season. I was SO sure we would win. We got close enough to smell it behind Z the night before. A few inches on a few balls would have gotten us 6 runs and spanked Webb. Instead, we barely lost after our best reliever gives up one of his few homers in the season.
Last night, Lilly was pitching and was 10-1 after a Cubs loss. But he just absolutely did not have it.
But I dont think the pitching is the story.
We Just Can Not Hit.
I'm not sure why Aramis, D-Lee, and Sori feel they need to hit a homerun every time up. But its NOT NECESSARY. GET A FUCKING BASE HIT.
And yes, I'm done with Soriano. The Nats can have him back. How can you have 10 years in the league and still not be able to recognize ANY kind of breaking ball? AT ALL. This will forever remain a mystery to me. If I was a pitcher facing Soriano, I would never throw him a ball over 80 mph. Just throw up a loopy 60mph breaker, and he'll swing every time. Hell, you dont even need it near the plate. Just throw it somewhere in his range of vision and he'll swing. EVERY FUCKING TIME.
I am just absolutely discouraged and disgruntled and angry. We should have just let the fucking Brewers win the division, if this was the effort we were going to put forth. I mean, whats the point in fucking being here?
So I guess its back to Wrigley for at least one. Rich Hill is pitching on Sunday against Livan Hernandez, who is a fat fuck with a near-5 ERA. And Hill is 5-0 in his last 8 starts, so hopefully that accounts for something.
But the bottom line is we NEED A FUCKING HIT. ANY HIT.
Rookie C Giovany Soto has more home runs than D-Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Soriano, Cliff Floyd, Darryl Ward, etc etc etc.
THEY'RE FUCKING BUMS.
Christ.
I need a Xanax.
Go Cubs.
