    #7487405 - 10/05/07 05:18 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I have just noticed that i have some serious bruising on all 4 of my cakes, i noticed that this happened occasionally when misting, but went away.

I had to handle my cakes the other day to check underneath them and make sure everything was ok (i have pins growing underneath) and i hve alot of bruising now.

Im pretty sure its all bruising - it doesnt rub of.

Im not worried, just thouht i would post some majour bruising.

They're probably just too dry. Remember, you can soak your cakes overnight in water to re-hydrate them, even after pins have formed. If you're afraid to dunk the pins, you can turn that cake upside down and dunk the top part of the cake in a saucer overnight.

I had some once that looked sooooo pathetic. By the 3rd flush it seemed like they looked more blue/green than white. After being dunked even. But they kept producing so I let 'em.

i got 1 cake im growing just because i havent seen a fruited one in 10 months in a poor mans terrarium and all it has done so far is shrunk in the middle but all around the top is fuzzy myc. the slight bruising is almost healed and its starting to look better. i need to fan it more often though, i put some polyfill in a small square hole a little above the cake so incase im unable to fan it the co2 gets out. also misted the sides of the gallon terrarium jug just to add a little more R/H just in case.

mine didn't bruise due to low humidity though, the cake just got bruised from falling over in the chamber until i fixed it up just right. <3 how cakes look but hate the low yield.
