Another newbie question

Hello.
I have some brf/verm jars, colonized with cubensis. I birthed one of the jars two days ago. It had a bump in mycelium growth on top, yellowy coloured. When I took the cake out of the jar it smelled very good, mushroom smell. I dunked and rolled and the bump lost the yellow colour and remained a clean white. Now, two days after it stays on perlite, no pins, white fluff growing from the mycelium in parts of the cake, in some spots the fluff gathers in a few millimeters of denser quality. I didn't mist the cake since there is still moisture inside (on the walls too) and I Fae four times a day. I'm sorry I can't post pictures, I hope the clumsy description helped. What do you think, something wrong with that fluff?
Also, I was wondering. The other brf cakes. I have a 1 kilo bag of 50/50 verm/coir. Is it possible to crumble the brf cakes and use that mix as a substrate? Is so, can you point me a good tek, please? Thank you!

a few days is a little early for seeing pins, usually 1 week before pins not sure about the yellow bit, maybe it was a little dried out.
dont sit your cakes directly on the perlite, this can cause your cakes to draw in to much mosture, sit it on some tinfoil or ur jar lid.
the 50/50 mix as far as im aware is not a substrate mix, its for casing. And yes u could crumble 2 cakes into a tray then case.
read the 50/50 casing teks and decide which is best for u and give it a try.

The yellowing is fine, and you can spawn to coir.

coir does have nutrients, but has been used as a casing layer in the past by ppl with success as well.
but since its mixed with verm, at a 50/50 rate, i wouldnt use it for spawn, unless you wanted to mix some coffee/straw/etc in with it, to make it a bit more nutritious.
