dumb Q, but i'm interested

this is a really dumb Q, and i'm pretty sure i know the answer, but i'm asking to be 100% sure.

does brusing hurt the mushrooms in ANY way? does it affect teh potency?

one more Q, more of an opinion q for those experienced growers.
if i cut the cap off a mushroom, while still attached to the cake, will the stalk still grow without its cap?
