or what.........think about it a plant uses so much energy to hold itself up why not eliminate that and then it should grow faster cause gravity pullin it down plus its growing towards tha light....itsa good idea why be a douche?

well if you could somehow make a rotating grow device that can move the plant and the lights in a circle, you could do water cycles with the plant upright then when the water cycle is done you can turn it upside down again.

I knew a guy that used to grow Tomato plants upside down in old 5 gal. paint buckets. He would cut a hole in the lid and get the plant sprouting through that and then hang the bucket upside down and make a hole in the bottom of the bucket (which would now be the top) big enough for a 2 liter coke bottle mouth to fit into and water them that way. He would fill the bottle and leave it in the hole until it was empty and said it would just use a wicking action after the water had saturated the soil...or maybe it was in the side instead of the top? (I never actually saw them)
Either way, they were outside and it gets really hot here so they would use up the water quickly and any extra would just drip out. No too practical inside and IDK how it would work with rock wool, but maybe just pour the water through the hole in the top...and probably put all lights and cords off to the sides in case of leakage. lol

this is a very common practice with tomatoes. Watering isnt very hard at all if you actually think about it. You just pour water into the top of the system. Many people plant other flowers growing upright at the top of the soil to help keep insects out of the lower soil.

Just sounds like unnecessary complications. Plants don't mind growing against gravity you know.

wow.. that's awesome.

I see the TV ads for those window hanging, upside-down tomato planters all the time.. with a little ingenuity it shouldn't be hard for you to construct something that would work..
good luck!

I've seen one of these in action at a local hydroponic shop. They look very cool, but is it more for fashion than function?

Well in a way. Take a flat hydro table a 4x4 one. Well if you hang the light over the table the center of the table gets most of the light creating a hot spot. Not take that table and wrap it around the bulb and now most the table is the same distance from the light. This is the main advantage to using one of these.

a coliseum grow.
ive seen those. pretty kewl stuff. They made the trays lined with plastic all the way around the bulbs. Like 4-5 trays high with a few feet between them for growing room. They obviously flowered clones pretty small. Helps create mad horizontal root growth though.
