making Psilocybe cyanescens fruit all over the patch?
    #7486041 - 10/04/07 06:58 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Here's my patch of cyans, pics taken last year with my Shit-E-Cam :

The patch is about 50cm (20in) long by 20cm (8in) wide and 20cm (8in) deep.

The cyans fruit nicely along the border of the patch. But is there a way to make them fruit all over instead of around the edges? More fruiting surface area = more shrooms

I have given the patch a modest casing layer of twigs, stems, soil etc. Here's a pic of the first mushrooms of this year:

Here you see the casing more clearly.

Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish a fruiting across the surface?

either way very beautiful patch!

Then it's a matter of optimizing the conditions..

Would loosening up the top layer a bit work?

In any cultivation of any species, everything being loose and airy is probably best conditions, but keep in mind, humidity has to be just right also, so apparently in the spots that the patch fruited, is where moisture levels are just right.

How young/old is that patch?

i've seen them take a few years (when kept up) to spit out what looks like a field of shroomzies.

This is the second year of the patch, which I created in spring 2006.

Last autumn the patch yielded something like 20gr dry from a patch area of a little over a square foot. Last year was a great year for Cyans though.

Well it's a very nice patch of fungus.

Does it need more materials? for nutrients?

is there a sign of competitive mycelium?

Im not expert im just throwing off questions I would ask myself.
I personally wish I had one of these cyan patches,

soon i will have tubs of them, but not outdoors, which i'd prefer.

on another inspection of your casing materials, it looks as though it's choking out the myc, packed down maybe, and not allowing myc to come through evenly.
