Hi, wondering if these are liberty caps or not, they seem to fit the bill. Our first time hunting and there were loads of these things, this was all we could carry because we forgot to bring a bag. Going back up tomorrow though to get more providing these are them.
Date: 4th October Weather: Sunny and clear, grass was a bit wet due to rain last night Location: North York Moors Habitat: A mix of long and short grass, grazed by sheep and rabbits Cap: Brown fading to tan, some slimy, some not. Between 1cm and 1.5cm wide Gills: Creamy white colour Stem: White, really thin about 5mm, slimy, between 1 inch and 2 inches tall

Aw really? We got our hopes up over nothing then
What species could they be then? Because they look similar to me at least.

Mycena SP.
The only one that could be a lib is in the top pic, the 7th mycena along from the top left (the one with roots/mossy/messing lower stem) has a second mushroom with a different shape and coloured cap leaning against its stem. That looks a bit more promising but would need a close up.

You should study the macroscopic features of the libs a little more and then go back to were you found these. There are bound to be more. just pick them out of those mycena. BTW you are still a lucky bastard for finding the one maybe two libs that you did.

Gills are the wrong colour man,, take a look at the one uarewotueat circled..
Libs also have a sticky gel coating on their caps. If you take a fresh specimen and split the cap slowly with your fingers, you should be able to see this gel layer stretching across the split.
They have to be fresh/moist to see it tho..

This may be another one. Much fresher, if it is one. Impossible to tell without another shot, but the color is right for a young, fresh lib.
