Here you have it, from the deep blue sea, to a sea of deep blue mushrooms. Grilled sardines served with Lactarius indigo... what a way to ruin a perfectly good serving of oily fish! The mushrooms kinda turned out looking like gravy made from a horrendous shade of oil based paint, only suitable for cinder block walls in a place sane people visit out of necessity or duress. Not so bad I couldn't finish it, but certainly nothing to write home about... thank god for the cucumber. Next time I'll stick to bisque.

Nice
Question: Did you paint your plate, or is that the color of the plates? Looks real good

Nice pics man, though your meal looks pretty unhelthy. Somehow reminds me of the food they throw with in the movie "Hook" (...and look, theres PoyPoy!) Haha, I love that movie
My favourite picture is the first one. I think it's very moody, nice light! Kepp on posting such pics

Well hey, i've got some pretty plates! And I know where some fine A. phalloides are popping up...
and plus.... I spy a burned splash mark on the stove. What a hippie.
Okay, j/k on that last bit.... But my offer stands on the first sentence.

thanks everyone. Yeah, that blue stuff wasn't all that great, though it wasn't horrible, I admittedly had to consume it in a dimly lit room. As a novelty meal it was ok and did serve as a rather unique dining experience.... Its hard to mess up gravy. Surely some hapless soul tried it in an eastern european country after the ravages of WWII, only to vow later life to never eat canned fish or mushrooms again. Nonetheless, it is kinda fun to be among the few who have tried the strange combination... the recipe had a catchy name I thought.
LouieLouie: didn't paint the plate, they are metal with a porcelain coating, pretty cool. A right wing christian fundamentalist gave me a set along with matching coffee cups. I guess they aren't that bad after all.
Curcat... That burned splash mark is driving me crazy... you have no idea!
Kaal-Kopje: #2, as @cro pointed out is Hericium. A rather pleasant edible, the species epithet is coralloides.
Landsnorkler: (I like your nick name by the way) 3 and 4 represent something that truly had me puzzled over the past several months. With the help of a friend (and bona fide mushroom expert) who possesses a collection of obscure keys was its true identity revealed. The hairy mushroom I've been affectionately referring to as the fraggle has been unmasked as Collybia spongiosus... aka Marasmius spongiosus... aka Gymnopus spongiosus... aka Marasmius semisquarrosus.... I'm pretty sure Collybia is the genus most recently assigned.

If it had turned out to be a new species I would have absolutely insisted on fragglarius Or even better, fragglerockatilis!

Thanks Cactu... yeah that Russula was a mutant. Pretty neat, I was happy to find and photograph it, but ended up leaving it undisturbed to continue growing.
In my opinion, only a few species surpass Grifola insofar as fungal cuisine is concerned. Both flavor and texture are superb. Additionally, they dry well, so the forager can easily store a season's bounty.
Those things that look a little like cubes in pic five are Leucoagaricus rubrotinctus toward the lower right and an Inocybe toward the upper left.
