Trichovereus cuttings?
    #7484812 - 10/04/07 12:44 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

just got some t. peruvianus, bridgesii, and pachanoi cuttings in the mail  .. they're already healed, i potted them (depending on size,) 1-3" deep in shultz cactus mix with a bunch of perlite. but i dunno whether or not to water the soil they're going in? also if they're in a deep pot to water them when they're ready for it; should i water from above or below, some of them are in pretty deep pots.

i also got 2 rooted bridgesii and im not sure to water them, now that they're potted. i have nothing to compare rib size to so i dont know if they need water or not..

dont water any cactus that has no roots. water is entirely useless to an unrooted cutting.
when rooted u may water, but take it easy to start with and dont saturate the soil.
simple as that.

doesnt matter at all... top or bottom watering is fine, so long as the plant has roots to take up water.

That's what he said. You can lightly water a cutting that is growing roots but watering a cutting that hasn't begun to grow roots yet leads to rot.

i dont even put mine into soil until they throw roots...
i just leave them out in my grow room, orientated correctly of course and wait for root buds to form...
saves the hassle of taking them out of soil periodically to check for root growth....
and negates the risk of being tempted to water and have them rot :yesnod:
