I thought there was a bad smell coming from one of my casings so I scrapped off the casing layer, popped it out of the bowl thing and gave it a look an realized I as wrong
some of the mycelium got torn up and most of the casing layer is gone. I put it back in the bowl and back in the FC. think it will re cover? its a fairly large casing

It might but it will take a while.
Put another layer of casing or mouist verm (thin layer) and leave it alone. You may see some growth buit only of you don't futz with it.

if you're luckily you'll have sent it temporarily back into a vegetative mode as it attempts to recolonize itself into a solid block again. After that it'll fruit again.
A lot of people used to "scrape and dunk" (which is sort of what you did here) their cased bulk substrates between flushes thinking it would improve subsequent flushes but I look at it this way...
--- When the mycelium begins to enter the fruiting stage of it's life it does so because some "stress" was introduced - such as running out of new food or environmental changes - which caused it to realize "oh shit, I might die soon, I need to make babies!"
At this point you could consider your mycelium colony to have a fixed "lifeforce". Every bit of it's existence is going to go into making fruits and it will begin depleting it's own reserves to do so. When it runs out, the colony dies. That might be one flush it might be six flushes down the road...but fruiting is the end of it's life-cycle. Switching back and forth between vegetative and fruiting modes is possible but you're still depleting that finite set of reserves until it dies.
--- Bottom line is I think it will recover just fine, but you might find it produces one less good flush than one of your other trays.

thanks for th description man
It sounds like your under the impression that it already flushed it was actually still in the incubator going on 5 days...dont know if that makes a difference to what you said

ahah I check mine a lot too just because I'm anxious
I just did my first grain to grain transfer on 17 jars and they are colonizing faster than I've ever seen in my experience, amazing
the casing seems to be intact and wondering if I should just fruit it without the actual casing tray

All the checking in the world will not prevent contamination. LOL! Messing with the incubation area in which the jars are in just raises the possibility of contamination entering their area. I vote for "leave them alone for at least a week!"

you do have a point but i gas the room with all these disinfectants specifically chosen to eliminate the baddies in the air and on the countertop on which i examine my jars. i have a gasmask dont ask why (pyro alert) anywho i think I FUCKED UP this time i was experimenting with different substrates and i decide to put do poo in the substarte to see if it would work as an effective spawn but just found out it wont be albe to colonize it due to the acidity but thats not the bad news the bad news is the other two jars got lipstick and this one is completely free of any contam ive done research its probably because i didnt close them correctly or something but ive yet to learn, anywho im just gonna see if it fully colonizes the good stuff and ill pick out the poo later - tim

No, i was saying the damage you caused, under a best case scenario will take a "flush's-worth" of energy out of the colony while it recovers...meaning that you'll probably see it produce one less flush.
Or, under a worst case scenario, it doesn't recover at all and you get no flushes...but that's rather rare, you'll at least get one, even if the one flush is only two mushies, lol.

I won't ask why, but I will ask you if you already know that most gas masks don't filter the exhaled air out.
Gas-mask / dust-mask = protect wearer against inhaling large particles of whatever.
Surgical mask = protect PATIENT from the contaminated exhaled breath of the wearer. They're cheap at any pharmacy, pick some up. You can wear it under the gas mask if you like, lol...
