Panaeolus Subbalteatus,

Are you in Massachusetts or in Maine?

This species grows in rotted hay in the spring and fall. It can be found at riding stables in the stable shavings mixed with hay or in manure at riding stables.

Also Psilocybe caerulipes grows in the spring and fall along streams and riverbanks in woody debris. See Stamets' Psilocybin Mushrooms of the world.

Mj

Hi You can order paul Stamets' book through RaverBooks.com,
Amazon.com,
Barnes and Nobles, etc.
Mind books.

Mj Also ALexander H. Smiths guide Field Guide to Eastern Mushrooms has a great colored photograph of this mushroom Psilocybe carulipes and more information than in Pauls book. Check out the library at harvard for the Smith book.
