Morning glory?
    #7483326 - 10/03/07 11:52 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Hi, i was wondering if these are morning glory, and if so, are they one of the hallucinogenic varieties?

those sure look like morning glory's. From what I understand all morning glory's are pychoactive. I've heard they go in 4 year cycles and on the 4th they are the most potent. You have to grind up the seeds. Only problem is it takes alot of seeds. The seeds are hella hard to grind up too. Don't ever get them from the store either pick wild ones like those in the picture becuase the have pestisides on them. It isn't a srong trip though. It is LSA which isn't quite LSD but it is half way there. It's more of a body high!

Thanks for the info. Im not to worried about amount though. These things are growing, literally like a weed in a bushy area about 10 minutes from where i live. I was just wondering around, looking for hallucinogenic plants, this is only the second time ive done this, and then i noticed these flowers. I kept walking and their everywhere, theyve taken over the area. If these are morning glory, and im fairly sure they are, ill be very happy. And ill have to undertake my own form of weed control by periodically harvesting the place.

Not all morning glories are psychoactive. And some varieties are weaker than others. I have no idea about this 4 year cycle thing, but it sounds kinda made up.

They are definitely Morning Glories. They look like Grandpa Ott's if you're asking for the exact kind of MG's that they are. Ipomoea purpurea would be latin name.

Wow, can you usually identify the strain of morning glory from a few pictures?

Morning Glories are really beautiful. I'm really interested in botany (as a hobby) and I've grown Ott's before.

Ummmm, No.

On the contrary, LSA can be very intense. It's all about dosage, as is everything else. Though the easiest way to get a high enough dosage for a peak LSA experience is by an extraction, or go for the more potent LSA containing seeds.

Let me rephrase that What I meant to say is very lite on the visuals. Anything taken in excess can be very intense but I have never had nor new an knew anybody that got a very good visual experience off them. I guess it's just preference really when I say they aren't a very strong I just mean overall experience especially in comparison to actual LSD.

Let me just be the one to warn you, if you're planning on taking Morning Glories be ready for an intense body load. Often times when I have taken it I've had extreme stomach pains and nausea as well as excruciating joint pains. Obviously I know that not everyone experiences the same negative effects as me, but I'm just saying that it may happen and you should be prepared. A very small amount of my friends that have tried it haven't experienced such a body load but many have. I'd definitely suggest trying Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds instead. The two times I've ingested those the body load was much more benign. Just thought I'd throw that little tid-bit out there for ya..

Did you eat wild picked morning glory seeds or store bought ones? Reason being the seeds that are store bought have pesticides on them and if you eat enough seeds you will ingest larger portions of pesticides on the outerpart of the seeds that will result in nausua as well as cramps!

Im a bit worried about the body load too. So im going to do a cold water extraction in distilled water, then filter it till im to lazy to filter it anymore. Ive read this can make it a much cleaner trip. And if this dosent work, and i still feel sick or cramped up, than ill have to do one of the stronger polar/non polar extractions.

I'd say go for one of the polar/non-polar extraction methods if it's possible for you to do so. Cold water extractions work better than simply eating all of the seeds but you're still likely to get the body load. Also, the intensity of the body load will most often closely correspond to the dosage level, increasing in intensity as dosage increases. Most of the time when I have taken different forms of LSA I've eaten a lot. Anyway though, it's going to be a lot "cleaner" and IMO worth your while to just extract it properly with a polar/non-polar if you're going to ingest LSA.

No one ever tries my method, but I'll tell you about it anyway.

Grind up the seeds in a coffee grinder and then filter the powder through a fine screen (like a tea ball). You end up with a white-yellowish powder that is effective at two grams. This eliminates at least a good portion of the body load, leaving a pleasant and physically manageable trip.

I have had very intense visual experiences on morning glories. This shouldn't always be expected for newcomers. I think after you've been tripping for a while and DMT has completely blown open the doors of visual hallucinations several times, pretty much anything can give you good visuals. I stand up too fast sometimes and it's like I'm tunneling through a psychedelic vortex...

I've never thought to do that. I wonder if it would make a difference if you then did a cold-water extraction on that white-yellowish powder? It's worth a try... I might actually experiment with this a little bit. I have tons of MG seeds just sitting around.

there is another way but it would require denatured alcohol. You basically grind it up the same way. You should look on Erowid or shamanshop to find the ratio of seeds to denatured alcohol but basically you fan it off on a flat tray or glass baking pan and after the alcohol evaporates your left with an extract which you have to scape off the bottom of the pan. How does that cold water method work exactly I have never heard how to do it?

CWE = extract ground up seeds with cold water for about 15 minutes and filter. Volia!

That's right innit?
