bad syringes

A FOAF ordered four syringes recently from one of the sponsors. Two were fine and performed as expected. The third one was marginal, meaning of two LCs and two jars, only one produced growth after a much longer time period than normal. The fourth syringe was a total dud, 2 LCs, 2 jars, nadda. No contams in anything, just absolutely no growth. Syringes from another vendor were used with the same batch of jars and LCs, as well as the other two syringes from this particular vendor, with no problems at all, eliminating the media as a suspect. All syringes were mixed thoroughly and care was taken to make sure no spores were stuck to the sides.
A FOAF was wondering, since the spores are sold for microscopy only, how does one discretely request a replacement. Also, is it appropriate to request a replacement of the marginal syringe, or let it go since he did get something from it (although a piss-poor value for his $$).

2 of the 4 syringes worked. Work on your technique. Don't always assume it's the vendor's fault.
Why buy four all you need is one syringe to last you a long time if you make an LC.

plus if you send a spore syringe to someone in amsterdam or in a euro country where its legal to grow, they can make prints for storage for a long time.
If you are positive your syringes were bad, tell the sponsor, under the microscope the spores looked bad thats all

No, my FOAF has a healthy jar, both LCs failed to grow. As did the second jar. Two ml in each. He is willing to accept that, even tho the syringe was substandard in his opinion. He was just getting others take on that. You did not answer his main question though. How does one discretely request a replacement?

My FOAF's technique is not at issue. No contams are present in anything, and other syringes grow just fine on the same media. He bought four syringes because they were all different species/strains.

Thank you Implee. That is the answer my FOAF was looking for. I know all the sponsors here do their best and sometimes things happen, my FOAF was just looking for the best way to approach the situation.
