It's all about $. They play what gets the ratings. Mass Media is that simple.

If viewers started demanding a different quality of programming it would emerge. Or better yet, if people entertained themselves instead of by watching TV, there would be a surge of much needed creativity in this world...people would put their dollars towards seeing local musicians creating live entertainment instead of blowing their cash on TIVO.
