Spawn, Substrate and Casing Questions

If I'm not going for bulk yield, what are the advantages of using an extra substrate other than my WBS spawn before casing?
If I were to use an extra substrate, could I case at the same time?
I really appreciate all your help and I apologize for all my inane questions.

Cheaper.
No, you only case fully colonized substrates.

Horse poo isn't that easy to come by. I suppose I could use straw. What other things can I use as a substrate?
Let me get this straight then. After the substrate is fully colonized, I would case, let that colonize, then introduce it to my fruiting chamber?
Again, sorry for the noob questions. B.

Bigger, and more mushrooms. Potency is debatable.

you can use coco coir from pet stores. yes you would case after your sub is fully colonized but just as soon as your casing starts to colonize then you introduce it to fruiting conditions

I have a brick of it. How should I use it as a substrate exactly?
