what the best mod chip for your money. i know i have found mod chips out their for around 30-50 dollars.

any of them any good. i just want a standard one, that i can play cd-rs and dvd-rs and download games onto the xbox with. preferably one that will read iso.

i can solder, that won't be a problem. took solid state in college. i remember most of it.

don't waste your money, they have a "softmod" out their, free and downloadable.

burn it to a cd, pop it into your xbox.

im pretty sure not only can you play your movies on their, but it also turns your xbox into a emulator to play everything from nes to n64

just be careful with it because if you don't follow the directions currectly, and you erase something on your xbox hard drive"think its the dashboard?" then you won't be able to use your xbox

but your pretty much taking the same risk with any mod

Soft mods work fine but they ruin your ability to play xbox live.

if you dont do xbox live, i recommend a TSOP flash, as it is free, and is closer to a modchip than a softmod...softmod is gay, do not do that...if you do use xbox live, get a chip, as you will be able to disable it and still boot into the original xbox bios, you can even do it with TSOP, just a little more difficult.

i have a chipped box and a tsop flashed one, i didn't do the switch installation in the file i uploaded, but i just flashed the entire thing with the hacked BIOS...all i really need...

ps...also, if you need the game or the memory card, i have both, with the mem card setup, if you send it back to me, i will send it to you, too bad you didn't post yesterday, or i would have thrown it in with your ubuntu disc i sent...pm me let me know

no, you wont lose all your save games...also, softmods do not have all the capabilities of a hard mod, prolly has all the ones anyone needs...the only i can think of off the top of my head is setting the box up as an internet server, you have to chip or TSOP flash to do that...

not only that, but everyone who i know has a softmod, have run into problems somewhere down the line as far as ripping games and whatnot...could be user error though

here's the softmod i was talking about, this was in my bookmarks their is prob an update somewhere on that site now.

so you burned the iso to the cd?

when you open the cd on your computer does it say .iso or is their a bunch of folders and files on it?
