Does anyone know if you can buy Horse Poo at Fleet Farm or Home Depot? It doesn't really seem like the type of thing sold in retail. Also, is straw readily available at either of these two places?
I could just go there, but it would be about a 30 minute trip.
Thank you, B.

you cant buy any type of straight horse or cow poo at home depot. everything they have is organic humus. which didn't seem to work. but i only tried it once with a crumbled cake. No luck with any type of growth though.

I've seen hpoo at Ace Hardware before. Those are usually pretty abundant in urban and suburban areas. You might want to check.

Packaged manure wether it be hpoo/cpoo/spoo is normally composted beyond useable quality for mushrooms from what ive experienced personally, The packager also may pre-treat it with fungicide's and other harmful chemicals.
Your best bet is to drive or find a crazy friend with a car who doesnt talk alot, call your nearest stable and ask to come gather some hpoo, when you arrive just take a quick look for the older looking de-hydrated poo and be inconspicuous about it.
Then follow a tek on hpoo preperation

You'd think a stable would wonder why you want their poo. I suppose as long as you are the one removing it, they wouldn't mind.

black cow at home depot will produce mushrooms but its not very impressive. however, if you just use it to dust your substrate it isn't the worst if there is nothing you can get a hold of. but hpoo is the way to go!
