Running out of verm...able to replace verm/brf jar mixture with some peat?

I'm looking to boil some jars later this week and am almost out of vermiculite, but have a lot of peat. Has anyone successfully substituted some peat for verm in the BRF/Verm/H20 jar mixture? If so, what were your ratios?
Cheers,

I kinda doubt it. Maybe pasteurize the peat first.. You'd need a GOOD filter setup for each jar not having verm and all..
idunno..
Survey Says....
4 bucks for 8 quarts at most lawn & garden stores and hardware stores.

Laziness my friend...laziness lol. But I figured I would have had to get off my arse and pick up some verm soon or later...perhaps I'll go right now.

I wouldn't recommend using the peat in place of the verm. The whole purpose of the verm is to give the substrate an "airy" texture, or to allow it to be somewhat loose. You don't want your substrate packed in. There needs to be some air/loose substrate in your jars so the mycelium can colonize it better. The peat will not add the kind of texture to your sub that the verm will. But, as mentioned above, it's cheap and readily available. Good luck with your grow!
