Colonizing too fast?
    #7476461 - 10/02/07 06:02 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Update: 100% colonized at 2 weeks. No signs of mold...is this good?

Is that normal? I've only done this once before and my first time, there was no water in the jars......

These jars are only at about a week, and they are pretty much almost 100% colonized, they're at about 90%. Is this normal as well....??

A bit of condensation is normal, especially if you're colonizing at higher than room temperature. Full colonization from spores in only a week is not normal though, so you possibly have mold growing. Time will tell.

It's always hard to tell from a picture, but they look fine to me. You don't need to wait a full week to birth them. Three days should be more than enough.

I had quarts of wbs colonize in about 10 days. I was worried it was a contaminate so i put em in a hole outdoors. Now i've got tiny little mushrooms popping up everywhere.

Wow thats incredibly fast colinisation, i'd er on the side of caution with those. Maybe they had absolute ideal conditions then slowed right down at the last 10%.

Maybe u could take them outside to birth and if they are alright then bring them back indoors. Though im not sure of a safe way to tell, if it is indeed a jar full of mould u would not want to give it a sniff.
