worst article on marijuana. ever.
    #7476407 - 10/02/07 05:14 AM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Ok, maybe not the most biased ever, but it makes me so angry due to the timing. This came out just as the WI legislature is examining a medical marijuana bill and this is clearly a response to it. My girlfriend is undergoing chemotherapy for lymphoma and marijuana has quite honestly saved her life. I am so angry right now to live in such a close-minded area. Please consider contacting WEAU and (intelligently) voicing your displeasure.

A | A | A A major concern of law enforcement is drug use. But, when you hear about drug busts, you might not think about marijuana. Now, local officers are saying it's still a big problem.

Meth, cocaine, heroin. When you hear about these drugs, you may pay more attention. But when people hear crimes involving marijuana, it may not bring out the same level of attention or even outrage. Police say marijuana use remains a problem they deal with every day.

Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer says it’s a never ending battle. "Marijuana’s here to stay."

Cramer says, nationally, it's the top imported drug and the most prevalent drug in Eau Claire County.

"Very easily accessible" says Cramer.

Chippewa Falls Police Chief Wayne Nehring says "we’ve, as a society, have become somewhat desensitized. We commonly hear people say 'well, it was just marijuana.’"

And he says many people don’t see the risk.

"We ignore the fact that it is in fact this gateway drug. That it still poses a risk. People don’t wake up one day and just start using methamphetamine. They typically start with alcohol and marijuana" says Nehring.

Nehring says it's starting as early as middle school and, in order to stop it, parents need to be more vigilant.

Cramer says "this is the start of something bad for you because down the line somebody's gonna introduce you to another drug. It could be ecstasy, it could be cocaine, could be methamphetamine. Are you going to be able just to stop at the use of marijuana?"

Cramer says many see marijuana as a recreational drug that helps them relax and that it wont hurt them, but they couldn’t be more wrong.

Cramer says "we see some really crushing behaviors as a result of getting involved in marijuana and having a psychological or a chemical addiction. We've gotta quit being so accepting of it."

Cramer even goes on to say that, if we didn’t have this and other gateway drugs in our society, there would be no need to build more prisons because people wouldn't be looking for stronger drugs

Well the drugs aren't going to just go away so I guess we'll just have to keep building jails.

My favorite quote from this article:

Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer says it’s a never ending battle. "Marijuana’s here to stay."

Then why are thousands of local tax dollars going into the arrest and prosecution of marijuana users? dipshit.

Dumbass.

I started with caffeine. Eventually moving to alcohol, then shrooms, then finally weed.

We should ban caffeine, the gateway drug (tm).

All hail weed, the terminal drug.

Because the only way to keep their hierarchy is to wage a "never ending battle" against the general public.

Of course, Law enforcement would be losing out on big billions, even millions locally, on the marijuana war. They have entire organizations built for their battle. People who's only job is to watch "offenders" and deal with drugs. It's sad. One day it'll all come out, though, and the whole of the DEA and big law enforcement will be doused in shame for their insubordinance to the people.

My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you.                                    -The Joekenorer

Maybe we shouldn't have drug offenders go to prison. There's like 65% (not sure if that's the real number...I recall it being stunningly high, though) of people in prison are in there for drug offenses...And not violent crime.

I just hope one day every one opens there fucken mind and realizes how stupid all this shit is and I hope all these anti drug agencies and all just get overrun and taken down for GOOD!

Make Weed fucken legal and there will be no crime associated with it, is it that hard? NO look at fucken alcohol how much shit it causes BUT there making billions off it every year so alcohols Alright.

Make weed legal, tax it and instead of building more prisons you build more BETTER schools with a good education not the shit education being taught to kids these days.

I didn't start with weed, I started off with mdma and moved on to methamphetamine and just did drugs of ever class and then weed and weeds actually make me stop other drugs when I realize that weeds so much better. No comedown and all no feeling physco!

What a shame to be bashing this truly wonderful drug and how many people are dying bc of NOT being able to use this drug.

There exists one lie that is the absolute worst. A lie that has successfully infiltrated many of the Western governments. This lie is Christianity, and it must be fought in every way, shape and form. Burn the churches and kill the priests. The abomination that is Christianity must be wiped from this Earth.

1) First, this article asks it's readers to believe pot is a problem just because they say it is- there's their fist error.

2) The supposed proof that they give is the gateway drug effect- the oldest, and the most BS piece of propaganda that the narcs ever came up with.

3) Then, the idiots go on to use unfounded quotes and a old piece of propaganda to compare weed to drugs like meth, and although I don't believe in a meth ban, I realize that has the potential for MUCH greater social harm than pot, and has caused much greater social harm than pot.

I really can't belive that anyone who has any basic logical skills could buy into this utter trash- people need to read anti-drug arguments like any other argument, as something that can be disproved, instead of accepting rediculous propaganda like this as the 'divine word of the government'. Anyone who buys this was already determined to believe it in the first place- what's the point?

Ban alcohol? Funny how he said that without batting an eyelid, then the article then goes right back to focusing on marijuana, as if it has some kind of special properties that make it's users unable to resist trying other drugs. It couldn't be that any type of high makes it's users curious as to the multitude of other types of highs out there?
