http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Burmese_anti-government_protests
London! NY! Vancouver! and several other cities will stage protests...I can't be at the one nearest me... THIS SAT Oct. 6th between 12:00 and 2:00...this is real folks..smacks of Nazi party tactics. Read thread please and get to a protest site if you can, and perhaps start of chant of: All we are saying...is give peace a chance...NOW!
Not wishing to be the voice of doom but this is possible BIG stuff here that may have father reaching effects than you want as young men you guys.
There was a draft for WW2 which the U.S. citizens thought was going to stay a localized European war. Who woulda suspected Pearl Harbour man. Are you located where you can get to a protest?
Funny, five hours an no responses yet from the P&S posters? You there?
Even though these people are "only" smart monkeys decended from that microbe that cralled out of the sea, (and that was, of course before the dolphins were crawling back in), they deserve our imediate response. Not for oil no b/c ther is none..b/c the newest atrocities are of enormous "We can no longer look the other way" proportions.

The bizarre workings of the culture are of little interest to me anymore. I have my fiddle and am ready. Let Rome burn if that is it's natural inclination. Without destruction no creation.

Do you realize this has been going on for forty six years?

BUT THE SHIT IS HITTING FAN! ICELANDER, THAT'S NOT A FIDDLE! IT'S A POOPER SCOOPER! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
In all seriousness, I am distressed over these recent events as much as any other recent event, local or distanced.

I am distressed
I'm sorry to hear that. Over in my neighbor hood it's a beautiful, cool, sunny, fall day. This morning I walked in the mountains with my dog listening to shpongle and picking wild fruit. I just juiced some OG vegetables an munched some chili olives and pumpkin seeds. Now I plan to nap in the sun on my back deck and listen to some trance music and then do a little more posting here. I might watch a movie tonight and then go hug Veritas and have a chat. If this all goes away tomorrow I will have throughly enjoyed today.

Please be compassionate my brothers and sisters and stand up and shout "Hell no the Junta must go!" Put out anti-junta vibes into the world and topple the world oppressors. You're never too old to care again.
This degree of atrocities has not been happening like this...they're raiding monasteries and bashing Monk's heads against the brick walls b/f they drag them away uncovered to languish with no trail...perhaps to join a forced work brigade. HELP!
Did you read the link I posted above dudes?
Why be a non activist when you can make a change?

I am making a change. I offer a voice of reason against the bleatings of the incoherently deranged children and feeble minded and I AM HEARD, my brother.

Why do people start caring about Burma/Myanmar now? This shit has been going on since before 1988.

A Facebook users group, Support the Monks' protest in Burma, was formed immediately following the first network reports of monks marching past Aung San Suu Kyi's house. The group grew to over 230,000 members by October 1. The group is calling for a global expression of solidarity through public demonstrations on October 6 in cities and towns worldwide.[

I consider that activism. Plus occasionally smacking a Hare Krishna retard. Just because I am sane does not mean I am not active. Wake up people and throw out these false thinkers and buffoons from your midst as they will lead you to.....sociology and worse.

If our attention should be focused anywhere, it should be focused at Darfur.

I don't agree with you that out attention can't be in two places at once but that may be a guy thing. I only want to encourage participation in the international protests this Sat. That's all for this thread please.

This degree of atrocities has not been happening like this..
Read some history. This has happened throughout history and more recently in Tibet.
It's going to continue whether you protest it or not. Or it will die down and start up in another part of the world. Humans, are violent fearful and ignorant.
Now if you really have the guts for change then make a major change in your personal programs and let others witness that change. The rest IMO is just whining.

Okay, let's get this straight... it hadn't happened THERE yet, I didn't mean it hadn't happened in HISTORY man...I'm Jewish after all okay? Got that? Now, YES I would have liked for advocates to have protested my family getting gassed yeah and that sure makes sense.
It's not whining..it's action... If one waits "patiently" for it to all blow over...that person/nation may just get blown away...

Tibet? Your right it happened years ago and the subsequent executions of Falun Gong members and Tibetan monks is just all made up... Now id like to say good things but marching in a city doesnt do jack-fucking shit to Burma. Maybe if countries stopped buying their fucking gasoline or sanction their leaders, its the only thing we can do right now.
Every thing else is a pipe-dream that lacks reality.
And WWII i believe was activism to free the jewish people from captivity, it doesnt make you any more knowledgeable on oppressed peoples, oh yea and 5 million gypsies were killed by hitler as well.

Isn't that what protesting is for, to voice concern to prompt officials to act?
